Turbine / Main Inlet Butterfly Valve
Isolates the turbine from the penstock and acts as principle protection for Hydroelectric Power Station and also allows maintenance of Turbine during shutdown.
Valves are designed to close against turbine runaway during an emergency condition.
These valves close during over velocity condition occurring due to turbine trip or runaway condition. Further, these special design Butterfly Valves can also be used for turbine inlet application instead of Spherical Valves.

A Turbine / Main Inlet Butterfly Valve is used to isolate the Penstock water during the maintenance of turbine or its accessories.
The valve can be either a Butterfly valve or a Spherical valve depending on the line pressure.
The Turbine / Main Inlet Butterfly Valve should be able to close under turbine runaway condition.
When the line Pressure is more than 33 Kg/cm2, Spherical valves are used.
