Introduction
Enclosed Guillotine Isolator
Fouress Engineering is one of the leading designers and manufacturers of flue gas shut-off and modulating dampers. With over 50 years of experience, Fouress has built a strong reputation by introducing innovative solutions that have earned the trust and goodwill of customers worldwide.
Fouress dampers are successfully operating in power plants, FGD plants, combined cycle power plants, waste-to-power plants, cement and steel plants, and various other industrial installations across the globe.
Fouress offers Guillotine Dampers with metallic sealing systems incorporated either on the frame or on the blade. Three distinct design options are available to suit both negative and positive pressure applications:
- Glandular Guillotine Isolator
- Unenclosed Guillotine Isolator
- Enclosed Guillotine Isolator
Enclosed Guillotine Isolators are designed for high positive or negative pressure differentials where gas leakage to the atmosphere during operation cannot be tolerated, or where temperatures exceed 300°C. In this design, the blade is withdrawn into a gas-tight casing, ensuring it remains close to duct temperature and preventing thermal distortion during operation.
Provision can be made for on-load inspection and servicing of the blade and seals, while the operating gear remains externally accessible for safe and convenient operation.
Enclosed Guillotine Damper – Features
- Metallic sealing system incorporated in the frame ensures 100% leak tightness with purge air. Available for duct sizes up to 100 m² cross-sectional area.
- Suitable for square, rectangular, or circular cross-section ducts.
- Designed to withstand flue gas temperatures up to 650°C and pressures up to 2000 mm Water Column.
- Can be installed in horizontal, vertical, or inclined ducts. Gas entry can be from top, bottom, or at an inclined angle.
- Available in enclosed design for flue gas temperatures above 300°C and where zero atmospheric leakage is mandatory.
- Offered in Simplex or Duplex designs based on required sealing efficiency. Simplex design provides 99.95% gas tightness across the cross-sectional area, while Duplex design ensures 100% gas tightness with purge air.
- Operating gear options include Electric and Manual. Pneumatic and Hydraulic operation can be provided on request.
- Entire operating mechanism is located outside the duct, preventing exposure to flue gases.
- Critical components such as actuators, gearboxes, drive screws/rack & pinion, and drive shafts are externally accessible for easy inspection and maintenance.
