Introduction

Glandular Guillotine Isolator

Fouress Engineering is one of the leading designers and manufacturers of flue gas shut-off and modulating dampers. With over 50 years of accumulated experience, Fouress has built a strong competitive edge through continuous innovation, earning the trust and goodwill of customers worldwide.

Fouress dampers are successfully operating in power plants, FGD plants, combined cycle power plants, waste-to-power plants, cement and steel plants, and various other industrial installations across the globe.

Fouress offers Guillotine Dampers with metallic sealing systems incorporated either on the frame or on the blade. Three distinct design options are available to suit both negative and positive pressure applications:

  • Glandular Guillotine Isolator
  • Unenclosed Guillotine Isolator
  • Enclosed Guillotine Isolator

Glandular Guillotine Isolator – Features

  • Constructed with a steel plate blade sliding between a proven single or double bulb sealing system. In closed position, the blade extends beyond the seals on all four sides into the atmosphere, ensuring 100% gas-tight isolation without the need for purge air.
  • Highly suitable for dusty conditions due to self-cleaning blade action. The thin blade slices through dust build-up, while seals remain fully protected as the blade contact area is never exposed to the gas stream in both open and closed positions.
  • Proven performance with over twenty years of operation in installations where dust levels exceed 1500 mm.
  • Seals are located on the periphery of the valve frame, allowing inspection while the plant is on-load. Seal replacement, if required, can be carried out externally without accessing the duct.
  • Suitable for normal operating conditions up to 350°C and differential pressures from –500 mm WC to +100 mm WC. Special design provisions can be incorporated for higher temperatures.
  • Can be installed in horizontal, vertical, or inclined ducts. Blade entry options include top entry, side entry, or inclined arrangement.
  • Blade movement is achieved using single screw or double screw drive systems. Screws are protected by gaiters to prevent dust ingress and are powered directly by a motor or through reduction gearboxes.
  • Drive system is typically electrically operated, with optional manual gearbox or winch operation available.
